Miniature Poodle Named Sage Crowned Best in Show at Westminster Dog Show

In a dazzling display of poise and pedigree, Sage, a four-year-old miniature poodle, captured the prestigious “Best in Show” title at the 148th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. This remarkable victory marks the fourth time a miniature poodle has clinched the top honor, with Sage being the first female to win since 2020.

Under the expert guidance of veteran handler Kaz Hosaka, Sage outshone her competition, which included six other finalists. Her sleek, all-black coat and impeccable grooming, coupled with her confident demeanor, clearly impressed the judges at this illustrious event.

Not far behind, Mercedes, a poised four-year-old German shepherd, was awarded the “Reserve Best in Show.” This striking canine demonstrated her own blend of elegance and discipline, securing her place as a crowd favorite.

The competition was fierce across all categories, with each group winner showcasing the unique traits and beauty of their respective breeds. The winners included Louis the Afghan Hound from the Hound Group, Comet the Shih Tzu representing the Toy Group, Micha the Black Cocker Spaniel from the Sporting Group, Monty the Giant Schnauzer of the Working Group, and Frankie the Bull Terrier (Colored) leading the Terrier Group.

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, held just behind the Kentucky Derby as the second-longest continuously held sporting event in the U.S., is more than just a competition. It is a celebration of the deep bond between humans and their canine companions, promoting responsible pet ownership and the preservation of various breeds.

As the confetti settles and the champions bask in their well-deserved glory, the 148th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show closes its curtains, leaving us in anticipation for next year’s spectacle of canine charisma and charm.
